    Default Bad smell cure

My lad called round at the weekend in his Astra complaining of a 'bad egg' smell coming from the engine compartment into the cabin - he thought it was something to do with the catalytic converter being faulty. Had a drive around in it and sure enough it stunk to high heaven - although it was definitely coming from the front of the car as opposed to the rear where you would expect it if it was the cat. Had a good look around the car and eventually found it was coming from the screenwash reservoir bottle. Flushed it out by pushing a hosepipe down inside the bottle and allowing to run for half an hour - then emptied the bottle by pumping it through with the washer lever. repeated this and then filled the bottle with neat windscreen washer concentrate ( courtesy of EPC's recent offer) and smell now gone. Worth bearing in mind if you get a bad smell !

When my mate got married we doctored his car with kippers!

He found the obvious ones under the seats, on the manifold on the radiator. But never found the one ontop of the middle exhaust box..... Phew!!!

i wonder if there is anything that be added to the screen wash, to bring a scent in through the air vents when using the wash fluid?
