Where did you get the resistor from? It could have been faulty or the wrong resistor?

ive had this before what normally happens is where the water has come through the pollen filter into the heater blower this takes the grease out of the blower and normally squeaks
then the bearings start to dry putting more pressure on the blower and the resistor pack gets very hot causing the fuse to go again

which is why i only have mine on for a few seconds or mine will go again
the only fix is to take out the blower and get the water or rust out caused by the scuttle leak

    or buy a new blower

there are a few threads on here regarding cleaning the blower

this is a common vectra c fault

this is why i started this poll post 182 and 183

well ive fitted the new heater resister and took blower motor out cleaned and replaced and so far all seems ok. But i think i caused my own fault were you slide the heater resister i dont think i fitted it right as it had come out and the burning smell and smoke was caused by the resister touching the carpet i have told myself off.

My eBay resistor was the same. Where it slides in was slightly different. Had to "modify" it slightly for it to fit right. No issues with it though

My ebay resistor pack stunk to high heaven as well as needing plastic cut out to get it to fit. Then the thermal fuze blew (it was of a lower temp rating than OEM one). I ended up fitting a correctly rated thermal fuze to the original OEM pack and re-fitting this to the car. No smell and has been working for months now.
