Default What grade oil do Y30DT owners find best?

I need my 3.0cdti serviced, and have a very good mechanic I always use, but not sure what oil to ask him to use. The manual says "0W-30, 5W-30, 10W-30 or higher than 30".......not terribly helpful!

Would be interested to find what grade other Y30DT owners have found works best for them please.

    Thanks
    John.

use vauxhall 5w30 fella dexron 2 stuff best stuff for them but you need 7.2 lts for a oil change with filter fella

if you get it from vauxhall on trade club there £19.58 plus vat for 5lts so you will need 2 and will cost you around £47

but if you buy 4 x 5 lts you get the 4th one free so will cost you £71.98 all in for 20lts and will do 2 oil changes near on 3 lol

I agree with gixerjd, 5w-30 dexron 2 genuine GM oil. Its also used in BMW, VW etc as well. Shop around, I managed to get 2 x 5ltr for £21 a piece with free delivery.

When under OE warranty you were supposed to use any GM-LL specification oil, hence the list
This allowed service intervals up to 30K miles / 2 years, as indicated by the ECO Flex Service Indicator
If you wish to continue using the Service Indicator (and 30K miles intervals) then use GM-LL oil
Equally, if the car is covered by a third party warranty you should continue to do so

If you want to reduce the intervals to less than 20K miles / 1 year, then you can use any Synthetic oil, typically 10W40
You should then reset the Service Indicator manually, as it will not display

5w50, but it has become rather expensive especially as I change the oil every 10k and I do 30k/year...so I switched to GM 5w30.
