    Unhappy TURBO, TURbo, turbo ......

ive got a v6 cdti 83k ex-police veccy this mornin i started her up all was fine i drove about 500 feet n stopped noticed revs went up to 1000 rpm n stayed, gave the throttle a poke n it was find then drove about 4-5 miles flooring it up to about 3000-3500 rpm n noticed white smoke in my mirror engine temp ok 80-90 ish wen i got home i open the bonnet n noticed a small puff of white smoke now and then from under the turbo, suspected turbo oil seals are gone, it still boosts the same and no strange noises, what i would like to know is
    1. does this sound familiar.
    2. can the turbo be stripped down and seals changed.
    3. is there a cheap good kit to do so.
    4. how to strip it down.
    5. does any1 know what type of turbo it is and how much for a new 1

your issue stripping it down is balancing it back up when you put it back together

look on ebay for a recon one they go between £300 and £400 straight swap then but buy new seals and gaskets better to replace them rather than strip it all off because of a leak

That would be correct in a petrol, but not a diesel
White smoke is more often than not water mixing with oil, and then burning, or a sign the turbo seals have failed
