    Default Head Gasket

Got in IT! today and was greeted with the header tank warning light, gets out to check bottle and there's no water only an oily gunge all around the bottle interior, checked the oil, seems ok at this time, engine running fine.

Now the real issue, 34k and a dealer that cant even look at it until next Wednesday, yes next week not this week, add the screen cracking and the air con not working when I 1st got it, who'd like to lay money on me driving something else real soon?

    WORST VX I'VE EVER OWNED!

Time for a new dealer...they should at least swap you into something else.. or can you not work in the loaner...

I've got it booked in with another dealer today Mark, ok so it's a nine mile trek but even after repairs it'll be back 10 days earlier than my local one, I had a look earlier and all I can figure is that it's either oil or rubber, either way it's leaving an oily residue on top of the water, had an oil leak when I last changed it, so maybe it's the same thing, also it's been missing when cold, so maybe this is the fault, once hot it seals itself, anyway, me and Vx are about to have a divorce, I hate this car, it's made for ppl 5.5 inches tall and French car tinny, nerver before have I felt so Vx has lost it and it wont get better, so next time it looks like a Jap/Korean/German/Checz car, with deep sadness I'm going to leave the Vx fold, since the Omega was deleted and the Audi reject was taken on, Vx isn't Vx anymore, even more sad is that the staunch user of Vx cars over the last 30 yrs is being ignored and a new breed disposable car fleet has been created, I always bought Vx or Ford *pre 86* because even though they were American owned they rep'd the last of the Brits, now I feel I'd better serve my fellow countryman by getting a Toyota or Nissan.

    VV & Vx RIP 2007.

Totally understand why you are doing that mate, especially as its your work so to speak.

Would recommend a Merc 220CDI one of the last shape E classes. Built like a barge, reliable and get them for around 5-6k now? On a 51 plater?

    YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

    Got the call today,

    Hello is that Mr VV

    Um Yes

    Hi, it's Vx Dealer

    Oh hi, hows it going

Well we've had a look and can't find any leak in the head

    Oh right says I

    But we found the fault

    Ah Great says I

    It's the heat exchanger

Magic says I, I was hoping it wasn't going to be a pull engine apart job

We've ordered the stuff and it will be in 6am tomorrow

    Lovely I says

It's on warrenty so you wont have to pay

    Even lovelier says I

Give you a call when it's done should be about dinner time is that ok

You bet says I, and thx very much

    CLICK.

When I gets it back I'm gonna call Vx and praise the dealer for promptness and good service, something i can't accuse Vx themselves of right now.

I'm very impressed Chris, I rang Tuesday 3pm, they returned the call at about 6pm, asked me to bring it in Wednesday, I had to leave it until 2pm cos I dont do the drink drive thing and needed to be clear of booze for sure, they've diagnosed and ordered the parts today, and fingers crossed it should be back by 2pm today Friday.

My local one said they couldn't even look at it until Wednesday of next week, god knows why they're normally pretty good as well.
