    Water pump mate

I'd also replace the thermostat while you're at it, if its not been done yet

It sounds like the pump have you tried gently unscrewing the expansion tank when it's hot to see if there's any pressure in the system do it carefully though and slowly. If it is the pump don't drive it you will knacker the engine. It might just be the thermostat though and is stuck closed and thermostats on the Vectra fail quite a bit however the common failure is stuck open so as it never heats up. Change the stat first as it is easier and cheaper.

Could just be the thermostat stuck, take it out and change it. You can check to see if you have flow from the waterpump by taking off the return pipe and starting the car, water should come out.

Yep, the waterpump will still pump the water around the enine util its hot enough to open the thermostat and direct the water through the radiator.

My thermostat seems to be stuck open, so need to change it.

You'll be able to see the water coming out yes if the pump is working as it will be pushing it around the system. Thermostats fro the Vectra normally come with the housing at about £40 ish.

if it was the thermostat you'd still be getting hot water through the heater matrix and into the cabin ... So my bet is on the pump or a blockage as well.
