Im ordering this one at the start of the month, its wired direct to a 12v source. With some you need to leave the plug on as it acts as a power reducer.
This one has a much neater holder than some of them too, I will be leaving it permanently in place.

Just a point to note about the idea of cutting off a power socket adaptor and wiring direct to a 12v Ignition Live source ..... most DVRs that are powered from a plug-in adaptor, are in fact 5v rather than 12v, so if you were to hard wire direct to a 12v source you'd fry the DVR as soon as you powered it up.

Hmm yeah true what I might do is I've got a spare 12v socket hard wire that under the dash or glove box and plug it into there so have a 12v socket in the glove box

Get this and wire it into the acessory socket and then tape it up behind http://www.maplin.co.uk/car-accessory-socket-1055 , job done

The cheap chinese ones are rubbish, you need something like the Blackvue DVR 400G-HD MKII and yes it costs a lot more money

Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
