    Default Dodgy DPF Removal

    Hi all,

Finally discovered what the occasional heavy smoke is on acceleration and idling.

    The symptoms are as follows:
The car starts to judder slightly at idle, as it used to do when the DPF was starting to regen.
On acceleration there are massive clouds of thick smoke coming from the exhaust which carries on at idle. This stops when i turn the ignition off and restart it.

The 'dealer' was supposed to have removed the DPF because it was faulty but it is clear to me after closer investigation that the ECU thinks it is still there and therefore pumps raw diesel into the exhaust, causing the thick horrid smoke.

If I get a remap, will I be able to get an add on part that maps the DPF out of the ECU as its really really annoying now!!

    Thanks

    Andrew

You can remap the EGR out as well. You say that the dealer removed it, was it a VX dealer? The DPF should not be removed without it being mapped out. If it was done under warranty I would be going back to the dealer to get it sorted. Have they replaced the DPF with a straight pipe?

It wasnt a GM dealer. The car concerned is a Saab 9-3 150 TID. I think the internals of the DPF have been removed but it hasnt been mapped out properly as the ECU still thinks it is there and is chucking fuel into a hot exhaust which is creating a 'Red Arrows' style smoke trail!

stick the aero badges on it take it to your local Tesco car park and start charging the boy racers admission

on another note take it back to dealers and tell them to sort there botch out before your exhaust gets blocked or masperformance.co.uk should be able to sort it

No warning lights at all. With it being a Saab, the Computer goes through a full check when I turn the igntion on - says everything is OK.

Pretty sure the clown has just removed the internals and 'forgotten' to map it out - hence the smoke screen every few thousand miles!
