morning all,could anyone reccomend me a good underseal,got a couple of weeks off work so having a week up in scotland(perth) then a week at home going to whip rear wheels off clean arches and and underseal the inner section to protect it a bit more,anyone used the hammerite waxoyle one..thanks in advance.....tony

I wouldnt use hammerite, it is too brittle and chips easily.

We built a kit car and was recommended to use house gloss paint, its oil based and softer then the enamels and will withstand stone chips better.

Otherwise I guess you just get buy underseal, think one was called Tetraseal?

Whatever you use I recommended that you can spray it on as opposed to bruhing it on. Maybe cost slightly more BUT its easier,quicker and gets 'everywhere'..in a good way. Brush on stuff works but it hard to 'brush' in the cold and messy.

Apart from the rear brake pipes, Do the vec c's really need undersealed again? I'm sure I read somewhere that they were zinc coated, However I may be wrong.

i was only going to do the inside of the arch to stop it rusting like seen on some older vectras

Waxoyl.
The entire Land Rover community use it and swear by it and believe me, it's the best stuff out there.
Paint it on or spray it. Some garages will do it for you as they have the compressor.

Waxoyl is no good for high impact areas such as wheel arches. All it is good for there is to soften up old underseal that has gone hard and brittle. It just washes away in less than a year - I can vouch for that. Waxoyl is primarily only meant as a cavity wax to go into box sections and inside doors, etc. It can be used in low impact areas such as suspension components, and subframes but as I already said, it's no good in wheel arches.

I've found the best stuff is tetroseal. Made by CarPlan IIRC.
I think there's some stuff called StoneChip as well that can be painted over.
