thermostat confusing me

Basically replaced the thermostat yesterday all went well. Topped water up and put some coolant in about 3 litres all in all and that filled it up. Drive to work which is 45 miles, heaters worked temp gauge worked so I thought thats that fixed. Pulled up to work and coolant low warning light came up. I expected that as I had to let the fluid get through the system so topped it up again. On way home it came on again after about 20 miles. Quickly topped up and thought that roughly will be it full. Checked underneath hecarand small patch of water, didn't know if this was from just putting water in or not

So put heaters on and no heat even though there was heat coming through this morning. Got home and checked pipes quickly and don't seem to be any leaks. I'm seriously confused. Gunna check the pipes in more detail tomorrow but confused to what to do after that

sounds like you have an air lock there is a bleed screw to help bleed it off or take the lid off the expansion bottle and leave it running for awhile and turn the heating up to max in the cabin

I have had the same issue. A leak and cant see where leak from as it dries up fast so i cant pin point.

No heater as well. Just warmer than lukewarm

I'm gonna sort it out monday.

Will need topping up a couple of times until all the air is expelled from the system

Open bleed screw until coolant flows out, then tighten. Then a good run with air temp on HOT setting to get the remaining air out the system.

Ok ill try that tomorrow thanks I know it might need bleeding but don't get why coolant light kept coming on and heating was warm this morning and now not. Is that normal

I know what u mean now. Slight problem... Mines damaged and if i remove to let air out (know i dont need to completely remove it as theres a line in thread to release air) i might not be able to screw it back on! (break it in process!!!)
