Default PIAA POWERSPORT Foglamp Bulbs - Any Good ?

Has anyone tried these in their foglamps ? Are they good / average / worth the £30 ? Are they even suitable ?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1705799990...84.m1438.l2649

I have setup the foglamps in my pre-face Gsi to work as the "Vx style DRL's". No problem, they do what they are supposed to do, but the existing foglamps weren't particularly bright to start with so as DRL's on a reduced voltage, they are "dim".

I wanted the DRL aspect a bit brighter, and was wondering how bright these PIAA foglight bulbs are in normal use compared to the others ?

If they are as good as their write up, and really bright, then maybe on a reduced voltage working as DRL's, they will be brighter than my basic dimmed fogs with standard bulbs ?

Yes £30 isn't cheap and if they are just "average" then it's hang onto the cash, but they do look really bright in their write ups.

Honestly, I fitted sidelights backing lights PIAA bulbs that are really white, and high beam H7 that are as yellowish as my old Philips Blue Vision, so now I really don't know what to think of them !

Thanks for the info Z80, I realise that different types will give differing results, good to hear about the PIAA sidelights and I'll steer clear of the high beam ones from them now, but am still interested to hear if anyone has experience of their foglamp variety.
    Fingers crossed

I have to change mine, so I'll tell you.

One of my Blue Vision died because the car is too low on bumpers (and I only have the factory SRi springs), so I'm going to replace both with PIAA.

    Results coming soon...

Many thanks m8, but you do know that the ones I have seen are pretty expensive as bulbs go ? The set I saw was around £30 !!

Bought these ones actually, at this seller's :

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIAA-15223-X...item5897297ad6

Remember I have to import (as I'm living in the World's arse hole), and finding a seller who accepts to ship to my location is quite difficult. This one did.

So according to today's change, they currently cost £ 40,63 : yes, they're expensive... But still not far from ordinary bulbs price at the local supermarket ! World's arse hole, remember ?

Now, the problem is... I previously had Philips Blue vision, I found rather yellowish (though still much whiter than the supermarket halogen, of course) as compared to my factory xenon. So I bought a set of PIAA bulbs from this seller.

I didn't have yet time to lie in the dirt and replace the bulbs, but I'll do it soon.

But I changed the other ones already. The set contained : a pair of H7 for the high beams, a pair of W5W for the sidelights (the blinking LEDs ****ed me off), a pair of P21W for the backing lights, and a pair of H3 for the fog lights (the ones I didnt mount yet).

    Here is the verdict :

    - The W5W are impressively white, maybe not exactly as the xenons, but almost matching. Much, much better than the Philips Blue Visions, that were in turn far better than standard bulbs, of course.

    - The P21W are even more impressive. Really white, I think more than 4000K, almost xenon white.

    - The H7 are really disappointing. Not yellow, of course, but not better than Philips Blue Visions. Not worth the price at all.

    - The H3... Well, I don't know yet. Will tell you soon.

I'm actually wondering if I got a pair of deffective H7 bulbs. Of course, pictures can't always exactly depict reality, but a friend of mine (in Europe, so I can't see them live, of course) put those H7 in his headlights, and they looked really white... But mine don't look the same at all.

Good for you m8 and I hope they work fine and bright white !! £40.63 is not cheap, but at least it's the price for two bulbs. The ones I was looking at were £30 EACH can you believe that ?
The only thing is that the others were described as foglights bulbs H3, the ones you show as purchased are headlamp H3, is there actually a difference ? Possibly it's the light pattern generated ?
PIAA seem to have a really good reputation amongst the professionals but I was never sure how much of that was just advertising hype, they are certainly damm expensive LOL.
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the H3, good luck bud !!

    H3 are standard bulbs.

Can't see where any difference can be. I guess it's just some marketing blabbering.

On the other hand, the H11 bulbs used in OPC/VXr round foglights have their right angle connectors protrudring from the housing and the loom connects directly to them, so they can be considered specialised...

Ok on the H3, as you say, probably marketing blabber LOL.
Well I'm waiting on your verdict on these new bulbs, but you have a similar car to mine (except yours looks much tidier ), so, is it PIAA all the way , except for H7 ?

Can you help me out with the part numbers of the other PIAA's you are currently using and find to be just purrrfect ?

So it's W5W & P21W so far ? (Is this sidelights and full beams by the way ?) , what about indicators, and rear bulbs, are those standard ?

    Cheers

    Woody
