    Default Drill Out DECAT?

Is it possible to DECAT my CDTI by removing the CAT and knocking or drilling out all the gubbins. I seem to have pretty low power under 2000 revs and since it wont fail an MOT for not having a CAT I am thinking why not give it a shot?

    Thanks in advance

    J

Yes you can do this i did it to my old CDTI and its still like that with the new owner.

For low poer under 2000 revs have you tried cleaning your EGR valve and your boost senser i blanked my egr off and that solved my low power problem under 2000 revs.

Hi Mark. The speed of your reply tells me to never post in the general troubleshooting area ever again lol ! Thank you very much for replying! I have tried cleaning the EGR and it was caked!!!! as was the MAP Sensor. However I am not sure the MAP sensor cleaned up to well and I may replace that before I resort to the CAT Drill. I just wanted to know if it was possible.

Am I right in thinking the CAT is the bulge immediately after the turbo on the 120 8v?

    Many thanks again

    J

    Yeah its on the downpipe.

Did you use carb cleaner and a tooth brush to clean the boost sensor i would advise blanking the egr and do the airbox mod that sure helped my old cdti and that was a 120 too.

Yeah the MAP was totally encased in sludge but it still looked crusty when done as best I could (didnt want to damage it). It was after this cleaning that my turbo got loud and since worse and worse. Anyway the EGR was cleaned to and appeared to move freely. Would just unplugging it and then driving it tell me if it was to blame?

    Thanks

Just be careful if you drill it out/smash it out there's a sensor in the way! Better get that out first. At least, there is on the 150 engines. I'd blank out the EGR valve and smash out the pre-cat and remove the main cat again by either smashing it out or replacing it with a pipe.

Hope you like diesel fumes! They stink until you get used to it!

What is the pre-CAT and Main CAT? Whats the difference and where are they? If my car smells like a bus I am OK with it LOL as long as it goes like it should.
