    Default Service Indicator

Is there a way to find out when my Vectra had it's last servie ie miles gone or miles to go before next, just the dealer who i bought it off last month said it had been done but i don't believe him due to the fact the service book was never stamped.

    OOPS!!

Should say service indicator(typing when tired)

well 1st thing 1st, just take the book straight back with the car and demand they stamp it.. otherwise you'll have a gap in the history..and you don't want that...

without turning the ignition on, press the odometer reset button and that should display the remaining mileage..( assuming i've remembered that correctly at this hour.. )

Press the mileometer button with the keys out. It will tell you when the next service is due. If it was serviced by a main dealer VX should have it on record. Go back and get it stamped! You have to sell it on at some point.

At the end of the day, you may never know if it has actually been serviced or not. You cannot tell. Just cos they stamp it, doesn't mean the work has been done. I would check that the filters look new.

I am just about to have the same argument with the dealer I bought my Vectra from a few months ago. The service light came on end of last week after having done around 4k since I got the car. I havent had good enough weather yet but I`m going to take out the air filter to have a look. I have had a quick look at the air box and there is a cable attached to the box with tywraps which looks like it has to be removed to remove the cover of the airbox. Obviously if they did service the car they did not reset the service light.
Anyone know if the filters have manufacturers dates on them? This would be a way of telling if the filter is new or not despite its condition.
