As far as we are aware, the rules will be changing from December. Weather the underwriters increase females insurance cost or decrease males cost is a story I guess!

i think also when getting quotes that it would be better if we told you we were members of vec c, after the quote and then have the discount applied to that, not sure if any of my paperwork actually shows the discount being applied...

This is an interesting subject, that I dont fully understand. Is insurance not based on risk? Now presumably if female insurance is cheaper that means that based on risk they cost the insurance company less money. How does this change because the EU say you cant charge them less then men?

Dont get me wrong I think male insurance should go down to match female, and the likes of http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/new...odmere_Avenue/ make me question if women really do cost the insurance industry less. But if they do then why shouldnt they pay less. Next they wont allow cheaper quotes for older drivers or safer drivers

Its all wrong, as you are penalised as you are a 'risk' - yet you may have 30 years unblemished and accident free driving. So therefore you are guilty before trial! you are assumed a risk because of other factor beyond your control and nothing to do with you, what you drive, how you drive and where you live.

I'm looking forward to my insurance being halved next month after doing a quote the other week. Currently paying just over £620 with Chris Knott, and doubt they will come back with £340 or less. My conditions have not changed in the last five years so I wonder where this huge discount may have come from?..... thin air is the answer.

got a email from confused.com, insurance has slightly dropped according to them.

as for the male and female thing, the eu dont care about risk, how old, your driving reocrd etc, this ruling was soley based on one thing and that is the male / female thing and insurance companies discriminating by giveing females cheaper policys (not based on any risk but for the simple reason they are female)

I wish that happened to me clean licence accident free for years over 45 yet my policy went up until we negotiated but still £480 with chris Knott found it cheaper but not same cover levels apparently higher excesses, still not happy though wifes insurance with Shielas wheels went down £100 without haggling for a civic type R
