Default Vectra cdti 150 Sri to Vectra Vxr 280

    Should I do this?
I have a 57 plate vec 1.9 cdti but really want a VXR
I've been looking at a few but the big problem is a 40 mile round trip to work and back!

Im not too sure how the fuel would be driving it normally and not driving it like I own a petrol station.

average speed on a morning is 50-60
a lot of stop starts, I'm like a kid at the minute, went to look at one today!

seen a better one since with 35,000 miles on it but its not a 280.... Are these better?
    any advice or mpg......

    apart from don't do it!!!

I've been there mate! Nearly plumped for a VXR this year. The offers dealers gave against mine were awesome! Infact, most wanted my car more than the VXR they had!

I test drove a few... Loved the noise, loved the power, although round the doors, didn't feel much more punchy than my remapped cdti! But on the bypass! Wow!! But then I thought to myself... How often do I nail it on the bypass?

In the end, road tax and potential loss of freedom due to high fuel running costs on my 36 mile circular commute made me change my mind! Even with the insurance being the same for me... I just don't want to pay a fortune every month in fuel! That said, they are a cracking price at the min... A lot of car for the money! If you can justify the expense go for it!

if the running costs are making you question the move then do not do it. They are not cheap cars to run.

If its power you want get yours chipped,in the real world the vxr 280 would hardly be any quicker and half the mpg, higher tax, higher insurance and every lowlife wanting to put a 10ft scratch down it

A remapped 150 CDTi can be quite awesome. Just turn the radio up a tad and do not look out the back for smoke trail and you will soon forget you are driving a tractor. Honestly, my 150 is plenty fast and kind on the pocket between fuel fill ups. Personally, I cannot see reason to throw money away.

Yeah mines mapped, my mate does it so did it the first day I got mine.
Yeah the black smoke is a bummer but needs a good clear out now and then! I just love the car, interior, noise, looks, colour (Arden blue). If I get enough for mine after I ring a guy back tomorrow I'm nearly 80/20
offered me 4k today but no good at all!
im vauxhall all the way, if the interiors were better I wouldn't be too bothered. Can't be arsed swapping and changing seats about and wiring them up etc...... I'm 34 now, been there done that.
I'd just love one to say I've owned one. Done it before with a car I didn't buy when I was younger. A mint Escort RS turbo about 12 years ago.
I'll keep this posted and post pics if I get one.

Miss the grunt of my old Gsi Vec B that did 26-30 mpg. lived With that!

    cheers guys
