Default How bad is misaligned front wheels?

A wee while ago i had a slight disagreement with a kerb. This caused my o/s tyre to end up with a rather mahoosive whole in it. When i got a new tyre on the car now pulls to the right, and i need to steer to the left to compensate.

Would it just be the new tyre, or has somthing bukled or bent?

more importantly how bad is this for my car?

could be as simple as the new tyre having a different tread pattern to the other side, i speak from experience with that.

if the rears are the same tread pattern, stick both of them on the front and see what happens.

    Get the tracking checked.

Just driving down a pothole can put the tracking out.

never considered that. i will try it. the new tyre certainly has a different tread to all the 3 others.

and if that dosent do it, tracking is next.

    cheers

no bother, trust me differnt types of tyre and tread patterns on the front can and will cause the problem you have.

Swap the two front ones round and see if it pulls the other way

Different tyre tread sizes (not treads) can cause the problem your causing, but i'd get it four wheel aligned, makes a big difference to the vectra for around £50

sorry but tread patterns can cause this, i had 4 tyres the same on my last car, got a puncture on the front, put the brand new spare on (same size brand new just different tread pattern) and it pulled on the side the spare was fitted.

got a new tyre put on the punctured side and it still pulled to that side, in the end i got the puncture repaird and put that tyre back on, car went back to normal, so that was 2 differnt new tyres which both pulled to that side.
