    Default Vectra C SXI question

I have recently bought a 52 plate Vectra SXI after owing Fords for a long time, I find it very good apart the very harsh ride. It seems to feel every single pothole bump in the road. My question is is it possible to change the springs or shocks to make it a softer ride?

First you need to find out for sure that there is nothing else that is causing the harsh ride. But yeah they can be swopped. I have no idea what sxi spring shock set up is but the Elite models have the best for comfort.

If you have large diameter wheels and ultra low profile tyes, the side walls are very stiff, this could also be making the ride feel harsh?

track rod ends, droplinks, arbs and wishbones should be checked before anything.

The early ones didn't, my old 03 plate one had standard shocks and springs, I fitted SRi ones to it for a while and then fitted a Spax PSX kit to it. The later SXi's were almost identical to SRi's but the early ones were massively different in spec.

If you've got a 52 plate SXi and it's a harsh ride, then it sounds like someone's changed the suspension set up on it.

my 54reg sxi had sri set-up and was very harsh, now got 57reg exclusive and much more forgiving.
Ring vauxhall dealer and ask for a price for springs giving your reg no., then ask if its sri spec.
