Default Need headlights (or just a decent set of bulbs)?

Coming back from southampton last night, and i decided it was no longer fun trying to guess where the road was and where it was going. Ended up sitting behind a land rover at 60mph for nearly 100 miles simply because he had floodlights instead of candles fitted to his motor.

I've seen before people complaining about the standard headlight/bulb set-up for the vectra so im just wondering what the best (and not too expensive) way of actually getting a decent bit of light at night.

I do not want anything possibly illegal or an MOT failure (i dont have washers or self levelling). I'd also prefer not to blind on-coming traffic as that's only legally allowed if you drive an Audi or BMW. So what are my best options?

    Thankyou

Hids is the only way forward im afraid. £55 for the kit from Hids Direct.

They will pass an MOT, and they dont blind over drivers if your lights are aimed correctly.

There is plenty of threads on here about Hids.

People have tried all the halogeon bulbs 50 % extra stuff, but you wont get better than Hids.

Most of my driving is done during dark hours, and the difference is night and day.

Just buy HIDs. There is nothing illegal about them without washers or self levelers. The MOT manual state that washers and self levellers will only fail if fitted and not working, so if you don't have them there is nothing to fail. Seriously just get hids you wont be disapointed.

Well i'm sold. Do you have a link to the ones i need (vectra 2007, facelift). There's ones for main beam, dipped beam and some which are unstated on HIDS Direct, but im assuming i only really need to do the dipped ones.

As per my link in 1st post. 50w single vision , 2yr warranty. Near the bottom of the page. Just choice what colour bulb you want. Most people go for 4300k or 5000k

I've been using ring xenon max bulbs for the past year and a half in both this car and my previous Vec and can't fault them. Far more reliable and 100% compliant, not to mention far easier to fit.

My next move will to be to factory xenons but this is more for looks than anything else

personally speaking.....i wouldnt entertain the hids direct kits.

i had nothing but trouble with the slim ballast 50 w kit i bought from them and it was £70.

ballast went - couldnt get a hold of them, call after call still nothing. had to end up putting paypal onto him and then he sent me out the ballast.

then the other ballast went and i threw it in the bin.

i then bought a cheapo 35w kit from ebay at £30 with the normal size ballasts and that was a year ago.............the cheap kit has been faultless since..........no issues at all.
