    Default my new V6!

    hi,

i went and picked this up last wednesday and drove it back from up north.
what a fantastic car, tiny little scuff mark on one alloys barely noticable the only other thing is that the passenger window wont open using the switch. other than that the inside is mint.

i took it to the garage and got a machanic to look over it as i got it cheap due to the bloke emigrating at the end of the month and he gave it the all clear. its done 81000 miles.

im chuffed to bits with it!

    Gary.

Nice clean example there mate, the window switch will more than likely be dirty contacts. Strip the switch and give the contacts a rub with (believe it or not) a pencil eraser and all should be good

ED, in the service manual there is a tick in "toothed belt and tensioning roller" which was done at 71,000 but then looking back through the book the toothed belt/tension roller has ticks at 64,000 and at 45,000. is this the belt?? if so it seems to have been changed loads. i asked the mechanic about the belt when i took it to him and he says that its a big job. is that so?

    edit:

or it it the ribbed belt? if thats the case that has been done at every service as well. im confused, if either if these are the belts then its been changed loads of times. are these prone to going quite often then. or has this just been well looked after. which im hoping it has .

Welcome to being the proud owner of a GSi silly grin.

The tootheed belt and tensioner is the cambelt... sounds like someone has been merrily ticking away just to say it appears ok, rather than it's been changed. Unless you can get assurance from the previous owner or proof from a receipt, I'd start planning on getting belt, tensioner and water pump changed in the very near future.
