    Default Vectra 1.9 CDTi, 120 ps 8 valve or 150ps 16v

    Hi Guys and girls

    Need some advice

Looking to buy another Vectra. Got to be diesel

    Had a 150 16v 2006 which was fab.

    Have been offered a 58 plate 8v 120ps.

I was lead to believe that the 120 was a Fiat engine.

Are they more/less reliable than the 150ps? What are the pros and cons between the two engines.

Your help would be very appreciated

    Thanks

    Paul

I've owned both. The 150 was quicker and more economical.

Currently own the 120. No swirl valve problems and no 3rd injector issues with this model.

Other than that, usual checks apply... DMF, thermostat, EGR etc....

A few people have reported cold-start issues with the 120. Mine's been fine so far though

Both will go on for ages if looked after and serviced well. My 150 had 146k miles on when I sold. Currently the 120 has 134k on it.

In the terms of driving then the difference between the 120 and 150 is absolutely night and day.

Given the choice it would be 150 all the way.

Each have their own problems but overall the 150 will provide the smiles, unless your an econ warrior then the 120 may suit better.

The 120 is generally known to be the more reliable however by that sort of age even the 150 had upped its game reliability wise.

The only thing that wasn't really cured was the dmf and egr problems but you'll get that on either of the engines (although a dmf would be expected to last a little longer on the less torquey 120). The 120 will also see about 160 brake with a decent egr delete remap.

Fuel economy is not actually that different between the 2 and you could end up finding that the 120 uses just as much as a 150 as it has to be pushed that wee bit more. Insurance and tax is also nearly identical in both so for that fact I'd go for the 150 as opposed to a 120

well i would be 50/50 if i had to buy again , i had a 120 with a dtuk box on , very reliable only rear arms and egr went.
the inlet swirl problems put me off 1st time around on the 150 but if i was offered one with this already done i"d probably snap it up.
i used to see loads of 150"s go past me and thought why didnt i get one of those . also 16v v 8v - bit more flexibility on the revs as def the 120 was flat unboxed.
