Default The carís in the Garage

Well dropped off the old girl this morning at Vauxhall for her timing belt, pulley, water pump, oil, oil filter and fuel filter change.

Why is it you worry about it like mad when you hand the keys of your car off to someone elseÖ

Also needing to order up the pads and disks all round for her. Out of interest what pads / disks should I go for (1.8 X18XE engine, hatch body)?

Fingers cross they donít call me back and start the wholeÖ ďWell when we were working on the car we noticedÖ.Ē speech!

All in it's costing me £251 and thats at Vauxhall using GM parts and a stamp in my book. The local garages i noramly use couldnt match that...

That said, it's my mate in the service departments that's doing it for me... oil and filters are £38 all in and timeing belt kit, labour and water pump is the rest!

Standard price for the timing belt from vauxhall on it's own is arround 250 on a vectra acroding to the website!

Not true... the 1.9 is just more complex to get at the timing belt from memory (dropping sub frame etc)... Lots more labour to do this whcih is pushing up the cost. The basic kit is also more expencive along with the water pump.

You don't drop the subframe to do the timing belt on a 1.9
