Default 1.9cdti 150 wont start after just after cutting out during run

    Hi
I am in need of guidance. My 2007 1.9 cdti 150 Vectra C has 95,000 miles currently, I was driving it home tonight and after 35 miles the car just cut out as I changed gear from 1st to 2nd at an island. I pulled over and tried to restart, it did restart after a few attempts but would not rev, it then stalled and has not started since.

I got it recovered to home and I have been on here all night looking for answers, my head hurts! he breakdown guy said he thought it was fuel and not fixable easily roadside and as I was soaking I was only to happy to get home.

    Things tried
    • Fuel checked for fuel pump
    • I am hear the fuel pump prime on key turn
    • Car turns over ok but wont start
    • Tried spare key
    • Car has juat under 1/2 tank of fuel, I have done about 200 miles on tank so far
    • Temp was normal about 85 degrees
    • Outside temp was about 11 degrees ambient and it was raining
    • Checked all pipes to see if anything has come adfrift, they seem fine

Does anyone have other things I can check before I commit to a mechanic coming and looking at it?

    Thank you

I borrowed a diagnostic laptop and dongle from a friend, I ran it through the tests and come up with 2 faults. P0340-29 Camshaft position sensor open circuit and P0340-28 Camshaft position sensor range/parameters.

Does that mean its a case of finding and replacing the camshaft sensor, clearing the fault codes and I am on my way? Or could it mean the camshaft has an error due to a possible snapped belt?

I will have a search here now to try and find how to swap one...

Well I got it diagnosed, after removing the cam sensor it was heavily deposited with gumk, far to much than healthy. I decided to remove the cam belt cover to check the belt and there was the fault, a very loose belt, further inspection revealed a faulty tensioner bearing so the belt has slipped and mashed the engine.

So the fault is diagnosed and the repair expensive...

Take off cam cover see how many rockers are broke. These are meant to break to save engine you may be lucky.
