Default Cam belt broke....and now fixed. Thermostat help next

So driving home and the cambelt snapped....brilliant...2 days before my 2nd daughter was born

This is the repair bill....anyone care to guess how much it was?

Now next thing is the thermostat and sluggish starting.

Reading through the forum ive come to the conclusion i need a new thermostat so looking at getting the newer version.

    My questions is this:-

My car takes ages starting if left for a few hours, if i remove the little green clip on the thermostat (sensor?) the glow plug light lights up for a lot longer than usual and she starts first time.

If i buy a new themostat will this fix the problem of my crappy starting.

    Discuss away.

    Alex

Its a start, and the cheapest option before you replace the starter motor, battery etc

Some replace the starter motor, battery etc and find it was the just thermostat.

So pick what way around you want to start

    Good luck.

this will be little comfort for you but my dads Scenic Belt went and after the 2000 pound rebuild was done it never started properly again. You would have to put ignition to glow plugs "on" position, then off, then back to glow on, then off, again and again before you could eventually go for a start. He put it in to Renault and nearly £900 pound later it was the same!
