This just means using 100% coolant, no water added
As there is no water it has a lower freezing point, effectively it won't freeze
The boiling point is also much higher
As a result the pressure at high temperature is less
This means there is less chance of engine damage, in the event of gasket failure
This makes it an ideal product for very old engines, typically 25 years or older

NOT Quite!
It is not just simply pure coolant and indeed cannot be mixed with more than 5% water or else it loses it high effective cooling properties. It is made from a company called Evans - see link:
LINKY!
Sorry for bringing up this old thread, but just been watched Jay Leno's Garage (very lucky guy).
He had Evens Waterless coolant on there, and seems to be very enthusiastic about it... Anyone ever tried it or run with it?
I'm keen to give it a bash... Expensive though!
I remember my 1984 Toyota Celica had a coolant in it, it was called 4life. I understood that Toyota used a coolant rather then a water anti-freeze mix.
It has better inhibitor properties.
Well that's what I'm thinking. Better corrosion protection, and one less thing to worry about isn't it.
Also lower boiling point and no pressure.
Jay runs in it his RR Merlin powered Car, and swears by it. It's expensive though, just wondered if anyone had tried it.
I might give it a go when I get paid.
Seems a bit of a faff to swap out this coolant at first though. Have to use a special flush, no water, and refill with this stuff. Also some people have issues with warm running, but no-one seems to have tried it on any of our engines as far as I can tell.
Matt
I've been using waterless coolant in my Volkswagen Beetle for years ....................
This is very true....
I was hoping for something a bit more "fluid" though..
