Default Two Million and Nine Hundred Thousand Miles = On The Clock

    SEE PICTURE .

When 5th Gear on Discovery , goes into an advert break , they ask you a question

and recently it was , " What's the highest milage anyone has recorded in their car ? "

And the answer was ....... 2,900,000 miles .

    In a 1966 Volvo P1800 .

Now with it being a 1966 car , i guess , the odometer would not be a digital readout and i thought pre-digital would only have 6 rows of numbers == e.g. == 999,999 .

or maybe 7 if you include 10th's of a mile .

So when it got to 999,999 it would reset itself back to 000,000 .

So if the Volvo owner really did 2,900,000 miles , would it be a case of him saying , " The cars been fully around the clock , almost 3 times " .

How would he prove the massive milage , if the clock keeps resetting itself at 999,999 miles ?

Maybe a reputable dealer who did the servicing , had kept tally of the milage , possibly .

If you watch this BBC video of the Volvo and it's owner ,

it shows the odometer and it only has 5 rows of numbers on the clock .

You could pretend to lose the service history pack and then sell the car as a very low milage car with only 3 miles on the clock .... after it had fully gone around ...

    l.o.l.

    Obviously , i'm joking .
