Default Mass or volume air flow circuit

Just wondering about this,if anyone can help.
Warning light came on dash (cars running fine no loss of power or fuel consumption) anyway took it to a garage and they said it was Fault DOE P0100 mass or volume flow circuit and it would cost around £300 to have a new one fitted. They reset the light and said just keep a eye on the car.Should i be concerned about this fault as i said earlier car runs fine.
    Any input much appreciated thanks.

Try cleaning it! Sometimes get much stuck onto it.

What car do you have? I replaced mine on my 1.VVTi, but wasnt sure the original was faulty as I had other issues with the cam phaser solenoids, so effectively have a spare MAF!
