    Default Electric window questions...

Firstly NOT Vectra related so apologies if its wrong section ect.

I've asked the same question on a few other VW websites but don't seem to be getting any answers, so thought I'd post it on here... always seems to be someone who has a clue!

Car in question is a 2008 VW Beetle TDI and belongs to family member.

The complaint - When using the electric windows, they go down all the way fine, but when you want them to close, they get half way and stop, before returning back down and parking again, regardless if you are holding or just flick the switch.

This happens 3 or 4 times before they do eventually close, but once past the half way point, they seem to really struggle.

I thought it could be a window motor / regulator problem etc, but its happens with both the front windows and the fault occurred at the same time. All other electrics work fine.

I've popped to VW and they say it could be a comfort pack problem ECU, which costs over £500 to replace and fit! (OUCH!)

Any ideas, anyone work for VW ect?

Spray some silicone spray in the grooves the window slides in. These getting sticky stops a window as it senses something maybe obstructing it like a childs head etc. Its also the biggest cause of window motors packing in as the are pushing against this resistence.

Not a 100% fix but a cheap very effective fix to try and something all owners should do to their windows every now and again.
