S this right?? £53 for replacement part and £20 labour. Anyone agree or disagree? I am planning on getting the part only then have them fit and check all hoses at same time for £20... This is related to my recent threads about the coolant and internal heating issue... He said he'll check the hoses around the thermostat at same time all including replacing thermostat...

Sounds a bit steep to me!

I'm assuming that £53 is for the complete housing. Can you not just get the internal components and swap them over?

Whether you just buy the thermostat or have to buy the complete housing depends on the engine.

Will remove the whole housing with thermostat attached from father in law. As he got another 23,000 miles engine in the garage which i could remove and use.. But no time for me to do it to my car so need garage to do it while i'm too busy to do meself!! Lol thanks for telling me to get housing unit too. He quoted £53 for the thermostat part not the housing as well.

Ok mate no problem, if you do need any parts then ring evans halshaw in newport and ask for a guy called ian, he is over on astraowners club and gives all parts at discount price. Also i know you say you dont have much time to do it but im attempting to fit mine on friday morning and looked at the how to guide on here and should only take about an hour to replace
