The 160cdti engine any good or is petrol best

Evening All, My mate is looking at swapping his e90 330msport for this http://www.alphamotors.co.uk/vauxhal...ashire-2363755

It looks amazing but between me and my friends we have had some issues with diesels and I think its because we dont do enough miles. He had a bmw 330d before and had nothing but issues and the same with a bora tdi. I said go for a 2.0t. Anyway was wondering what to look out for when we go up some day this week. What are the diesel engines like on these?? Good or bad as he will done mainly town driving doing about 100-120miles a week at most.

You need to be doing 20k plus a year to even begin thinking about a diesel. For the mileage your mate is doing he would be better off with a petrol

Thats what ive said but hes not having it. Told him he will have issues and wont be saving. Looking for a petrol one for him now.

Engine is okay, punchy enough. However, has the usual diesel trait of running out of puff early.
