Map reading light console - 3 or 4 button version?

I have noticed there are two versions. One with 3 buttons and a blank (which I have) or one with a fourth button. What does this other button do?

I have 2 buttons for reading lights, one for the main light and one for turning off the light in the front while the light in the back is on... No idea why!

4th button turns off the rear pair of lights when the doors are closed and all the lights off when the doors are open mate.

Normally fitted to police spec cars (I have changed mine to one too).
