Run it up first once its hot.

Make sure you wear suitable gloves an long sleeve totop ensure socket it square on the nut an should come out easy enough.

I replaced mine on an 03 Vectra c a month or so ago and as it was a renewal I took the angle grinder with thin blade and cut the top off so I could get a socket on it - worked fine as it was some tight !

Anything from a blow lamp, oxy/acet to to a hand grenade.................

They can be tough .......... but be careful, the metal around the weld can get thin with age,
trying to remove the sensor could rip the whole assembly out of the exhaust pipe so make sure its red hot or near as you can get it before attempting to remove.

I didn't have too much trouble grabbing mine with a normal ring spanner...

I tend to use a ring spanner too - undo the wiring and thread it through the spanner. I don't have anything against the special sockets with the cutout for the wire, I just don't have one Get a 6-sided one rather than the common 12-sided and it won't slip.

Plenty of heat is the answer - as said above, they tend to weld themselves in due to the expansion and contraction of the metal. Try slightly tightening it to get it moving, then slow and steady pressure to undo - don't shock it too much or you might tear the exhaust pipe.
