I've just bought a Jan 06 1.8 Life model at auction ( no handbook) and taken it back to France with me.
The car was fitted with what a garage told me were "angel-eyes" lights and the side-lights would only come on with dipped beam. I've bought new GM LHD lights but I'm still having the same problem: is this something known or a real problem
Sitiuation with lights.
Ignition off = No lights any position except when selecting a single side-light with indicator-stalk
Ignition on = No side-lights when side-lights selected
but on when dipped or headlights selected ( with dipped and headlight bulbs).
I was just looking at the wiring and there had been a hefty speaker-system fitted and still connected to battery so taken that off. There was also a blown 30A fuse in the footwell which is suspicious but I believe the relevant fuse is F8 which is only 10A. There may be some ordinary gauge wire still connected but don't know where as I can just see a blue wire under the boot-carpet where it was bundled with the heavy-gauge speaker-cables
Are these systems so sensitive that an extra wire might cause problems just by being connected ?
My problem is that my last car was a Vectra B '99 so I am unused to a more modern , far more complex system. I don't even know how to start some basic checking -any suggestions at all as I have the car with the bumper off and will be immobilised until fixed.
Thanks in advance.
Pity my first post had numerous problems !
