I can get burnt CDs to play on my CCR2006 no probs, but it does seem to be fussy with the discs you put in. I used some cheaper CD-Rs initially as it was just for music in the car and it skipped with them, so I then used the better (Verbatim) discs that I normally used for burning data indoors and it works fine with them. Don't know what make you are using, but if it's a cheapy brand then I'd suggest giving a branded make a whirl. Even if it is a branded make, maybe try another one as players can still be fussy between brands.

If you like, to determine whether it's your player that's playing up, I could send you a burnt CD that definitely works in my CCR2006 and see if it does in yours.

A good quality cleaner-disc seemed to sort mine out (until the CD changer flap broke again, 3rd one now), they also seem to be prone to damp as I noticed when changing cd's they were always wet n dirty when I cleaned them after they started skipping, worth investing in a decent cleaning disc which will do for your dvd at home as well.

yep - I have about 200 full face printable Titanium CD-R's I got for the main purpose of burning MP3s to and playing in my car and they skip like crazy I now use Sony CD-R's and they are spot on.
