    Default Key reprogramming

    Does anyone know if it possible to reprogram a used key to your existing car as only got one key and it playing up and dealers want £130+ for new key and program cdti150 55 plate

    One thing i know of is the how 2 have this... I reprogrammed a key that stopped responding. Used the how 2 and worked again.

    Cant find the how 2 but in manual have this info.

    Am not near my car. If you leave a message tomorrow eveninh as i'll be home tomorrow i'll pass on the details

    But you should have the car manual in glovebox or summat?? I had mine full pack with all info and car pass with document wallet.

    It is for a used key from another car NOT a original key that has lost it programming someone said in needs tech 2

    Mike I am fairly sure it can't be done with an old key from another vehicle someone else may know better but I am fairly certain.

    paula is correct, old keys from other cars cannot be used
    Plasma's Tech2 services are now partially open and able to provide services

    Try ringing a local auto locksmith they might be able to provide an programme a new key fairly cheaply.

    i think keys can be reprogrammed because I'm sure one of lads in work done his own car the other day

    the transponders within them are a write only once affair, you can only resync existing keys or re-add keys which have been removed from the CIM

    Critch - find out for sure mate as I firmly believe it cant be done due to the way its coded, but always interested in the possibilit of being wrong although i've never accomplished it with Vauxcom or tech2 no matter how i tried.
