    Default vectra c heater

    hi all

my heater on my vectra was not working on 1 2 3 but was on 4 then it started to make a horrible noise then it stopped and hasent working since. but now the wet and cold is here it needs sorting as misting up.
the resister seems ok to replace but what if its the blower its self is that hard to replace?

Sounds like the famous resistor pack being the glove box, very common if you don't clean out the scuttle tray under the bonnet. Water overflows begin the dash and shirts the resistor pack out. Very easy to change

Check in the How2 section for this one

The resister packs can be got online or via Vx Stealers and it's not a hard job to do. First thing though is to ensure the scuttle drain is clear so it's doesn't blow again as soon as you've fixed it!

Oh and regarding the scuttle tray, mine was blocked hence the resistor packing up. Lift the bonnet and just below the windscreen glass on the right hand side pull the plastic flap out the way and Youl see a big rectangle filter. That's your pollen filter. Below that there's and oval hole with a black rubber bung, that gets clogged up, it's a poor design. RIP IT OUT, I did and iv had no issues since, look for this video on YouTube

If you can hear the relay clicking when you select position 4 then that's probably ok. Unless you take resistance readings on the resister pack, you're unliekly to be able to tell if it's ok just be looking at it.

You can either replace the resister pack with new, or just the tip resister if you feel like soldering, which is a matter of pennies.
