Default Claiming for damage caused by aftermarket part...

    Hi chaps,

Just wondered if anyone has ever had any luck with claiming for damaged caused because an aftermarket part was of poor quality or not fit for purpose?

As some of you may have seen in my other thread, a rubbish Q-Drive suspension arm failed after a few months of use and caused one of my rear tyres to wear completely bald along one third of the tread.

I'm claiming for the part itself under warranty (as well as it's twin on the opposite side) but surely the company who made it should be liable for the damage.

Not expecting to get anywhere, I'm just curious as to the law in this sort of case...

who fitted the parts ? U will be lucky to get warranty on even the parts unless fitted by a vat register garage with a receipt

I doubt if you'd get too far claiming for consequential loss/damage. There's always the argument that there might well have been other factors involved, not just the suspect component.
