    Default clunking front end

i know this is probably an age old thing. i have an 04 2.2 dti auto.
when i pull away i get a clunk, can feel through pedal and steering, worse if im turning. stop the car, reverse, does the same, but only once. if i just slow down in traffic then floor it, it doesnt do it. wheels dont wobble, and runs straight.
put it on full lock today while sat at work, and turned that last bit to full, can hear a clicking noise from i think this

not sure if this would cause the clunking while moving initially forward or backwards.
the big ball joint in the pic moves a bit, only a couple of mm in and out, anything i can check, do, or any ideas would be great.
thought maybe springs to start with, but they are fine, no cracks, no movement, speed bumps dont create this clunk, i get a light squeek though.

its raining pretty hard, its not grease anywhere, its water

i did think this, one of my locking wheel nuts makes a clinking noise, outer case seems a bit loose, il check them all, all wheels seems flush against hub though

checked wheel nuts, all really tight, even got that, click when you tighten them up to the point of no return
while i was there i used the bar to check my calipers, using my whee spokes as a brace, the calipers lift up about a mm, this normal???? they may just be flexing, i pushed them up from the curved part where you can see the back of the pads and it def moves, the top carrier moves about a mm too

went for a drive, pulled away, didnt clunk, stopped at junction, pulled off, clunk, clunk, this carried on, so the next time i stopped i had an idea. when the lights went green i let the auto box move the car, nice and slow, and after a few feet i then put the power down, no clunk, calipers a good bet???? when i stopped and started again and drove off normally it clunked again btw

ok, looking at the failed MOT the day before my new mot and the day they dropped off my car, it had these advisories
Offside front upper anti roll bar linkage has excessive play in a ball joint
Offside front inner cv joint gaitor deteriorated to the extent it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc

most of the clunking i get sounds like drivers side, which is offside, pics are from drivers side, no new gaitors in there
