    Default CD70 Navi modification questions

    Greetings all

I have placed my order for the new facelift model 1.9Cdti 150 Signum Elite, it is due for delivery in November, as standard it comes fitted with the CD70 Navi headunit. As I am a music lover and have 140Gb of mp3 music on an external harddrive, I wish to install an Alpine 9847 headunit (as it has an aux input). I then wish to wire in my laptop and external hdd (with the music) and connect a 7" touch screen monitor to the laptop to control the laptop and allow my son to play the PS2.

What I need to know is, can I disconnect the audio unit and plug the connections into the Alpine, but still keep the Sat Nav unchanged. I know that the Alpine will work 100%, but cant find out if the audio and Sat Nav of the CD70 work independantly or as one complete unit. I will be looking at leaving the CD70 in place, I just want to add the new headunit and redirect the wires.

    Can this be done?

    Regards sent

    hi,

    congratulations on the new car,

i am however afraid that the cd70 is an ' all in one ' unit, comprimising of the stereo/cd and nav unit,

you will not be able to leave the unit and 'add' a seperate stereo,

the display will also loose some stereo functions if the OEM unit is removed and the satnav will not work if the CD70 is removed

    hope this helps
