    Default Nightmare

Had a nightmare of a day changing the thermostat on the signum cdti 120
I was shocked just how much work and effort is involved in changing this piece
After 2 hours i had to have a lay down because of the cronic back ache that had set in,it took me 5 hours in total
When refitting i cut the lug off the heat exchanger that bolts to engine just to save more time with an air saw
The car now sits at 85 degrees and its great to have hot air in the car but where the metal pipe that goes into the heat exchanger is leaking(cant have mated them up properly) so now it has caused unbelievable turbo lag
Will try to mate pipes up better tomorrow as i feel and look like steven hawkins at the moment

Your right its a pig of a job - I also cut the bracket off the heat exchanger - it makes it a lot easier to do it next time and the exchanger is still rock solid without it - well done

I'm 60 - just done a clutch on a Fiesta last Saturday - took me all day Sunday to recover - felt like I had been kicked all over - got a timing belt kit to do tomorrow on a Corsa - looks like another dose of paracetamols for dinner lol - still get a lot of satisfaction doing it yourself though

Sounds like a good thread to air all our aliments lol. Ok, here is my story, 50 with swolling kidneys. I changed the stat in my 150 (not as difficult as the 120 but still a job for such an item). Took a few hours but boy did I suffer. Still, my feet are now nice n cosy on way to work

Perhaps we should set up a zimmer maintenance section for older members

Perhaps we should have an upper age limit of 45 for members, as the old codgers are liable to kill themselves while trying to keep up with us young'uns
