I have a tank but not as big as that the pump dosnt cost a lot to run fella but I also have the tank on a timer so the lights etc come on and go off at set times saves a bit on electric, to be honest getting a bit fed up with it cos constant cleaning cleaning filters and checking the water is a bit of a pain

I've had both tropical and coldwater tanks for over twenty years..tbh dont notice any financial costs in terms of running. The 'maintainence' of these setups is offset by the pleasure of the viewing. A parial water change every two to three weeks takesapprox ten minutes.

Have you though of buying your tank etc via a car boot or ebay?...

I have a trigon 350 tank, and a fluval 405 filter never noticed a change on electric bill when I started out. I have Malawi cichlids in my tank. they are Nice colourful fish and fairly easy to look after. Just make sure you have plenty of rock for "territories"

Good piece of advice here, don't put your foot through it like I did, lol 100 litre of water smashed glass and fish flapping on the carpet was not a pretty sight.

Heater will go on and off as needed but with a tank that size the lights will probably keep it heated enough.

The bigger the tank the less upkeep they take if you choose the right fish.

We have Assassin snails that reproduce slower than normal snails and they eat pest snails, Siamese algae eaters that eat the algae, Otocinclus that also eat the algae and some rock gobbys that also eat algae.

I clean the glass about every 8 weeks and do a 20% water change every 4-6 weeks (Check the water qualty just before I do the water change)

    And thats it.

    This is our tank:
