Vehicle : Vectra C 3.2 Gsi Auto (Zavoli LPG with Flashlube)

    Mileage : 131,000

Default "Winter" Wheels ? Are 19" Snowies best for the "Summer" ?

    Hi again guys,

Ok, so I did a "deal" and now have 19" Snowies on my lowered Gsi, BUT, are these wheels better suited to Summertime driving ? Should I think about smaller wheels and bigger tyres for those days when you can't see a pothole ahead, you just have nightmares about them ?
Thinking about getting a set of 17" wheels for the winter, is this a good idea or can I confidently carry on "bouncing" through potholes I can't see on my 19"'s when the snow arrives ?
What do you think reckon fellow 19 inchers ?

Make sure you get "Winter" spec tyres on, they have a grip designed for working in snow.

    Or buy some Snow Socks.

I don't have a winter set, and mine are unmarked etc... But then again I can drive in the snow and will happily sit at 10mph if things are really bad, sod the crappy cars behind me

I run 19 inch snowies and run em all year round, just drive carefully and if the snow gets bad , I walk, because the vectra is the worst car I have ever owned in the snow and with a combination of 19 inch wheels it becomes scary...dreadful handling ...

" All Season tyres" This is what you want if you want traction in the snow.

I think you also need to let your insurance company know you have put winter tyres on (classed as a mod) - not sure it they all do that but I'm pretty sure it has been mentioned on here before
