check safeguard message fault, and computer screen staying on, what can it be?

looking to get a preface vec c again, only issue it has is a check safeguard message on the screen. i assume this is related to the alarm. are there any easy ways to find where it is coming from without getting the codes read? or will pedal test show the fault?
where are the main problems with these? interior sensors? door switches? bonnet switch? or something i havent even thought of?

possibly related was i noticed sometimes when shutting the door, the trip screen wouldnt turn off, could this be related? other times it turned off fine, is there a sensor in the door which would affect both?

it would be a shame not to get it for the sake of this problem, but dont want to get it if it could turn into a right pain to sort

Sounds like the door sensor to me.

Surely the car wouldn't lock and the interior light wouldn't go off it the car thought the door was open. The fault with my 'safeguard' was one of the terminals to the rear demister being disconnected. I believe it uses the demister element to check if the rear window is in one piece. Just turn on the demister and see if it works. That will eliminate that.

cheers, yea all doors lock and unlock fine, and the red door open light on dash goes out with each door shut. good shout on the demister, will check that out
