    Default outside tmp sensor rubbish

does anyone else find the temp sensor on a preface a bit naff. mine kept saying F and then really cold temps, so i changed it, sprayed wd40 everywhere, and it still plays up, and gives me frost warnings, especially if its been raining, never had this on the vec b as the sensor was behind the bumper, on this one, its in the lower grille, really exposed, bad design???

Remove the large multi plug that clips behind the crash bumper, the one where the wires from the temp sensor and foglights all meet. Separate it and check its not got some corrosion in it.

common occurence for these plugs to be playing up .
as just give the pins a clean should be ok also make sure none of the wires are loose going into plug

    Looks correct to me

It will have either 2 or 6 wires in -

    1 x Blue (temp sensor +)
1 x Blue with white stripe (tmp sensor reference)

and if you have front fogs -

    2 x black (Front fog +12v feed)
2 x brown (front fog return / ground / reference)

It looks like your has been modified. - those stray wires running along the bodywork towards the trunking / corrugated tubing.

I would check the wiring between the sensor and the big plug mentioned above.
I would also look at all the other added wires inside the corrugated plastic tubing.

fitted a new one, unplugged everything, cleaned, loads of blue chalky stuff, all clear now. worked for 2 days, then f and -25, damn, so ive pulled apart, cable tied all the cables to the plugs and cable tied them all behind the slam panel, inc the temp sensor, still work ok there????
