    Default brake peddle creep

    hi all...

how much peddle creep should i get ?

although the brakes have just passed a test, i feel that they are a bit soft and i can almost press the peddle to the floor even after iv pumped the peddle up.

i have just done a complete flush of the system via each calliper to flush the old fluid to see if thats made any difference and it hasn't.

im now thinking that maybe the seals in the master cylinder and a bit warn after 122k and might need changing or is this peddle creep normal?

    cheers
    al.

They shouldn't be going down that far.

if pumped, they should stay almost solid though i think with a tiny bit of creep?

Yes, that's it, there will be a little bit of creep, but not to the degree where they go down towards the floor.

Sorry I can't help with what the cause might be, but have been in quite a few vectra's and none of them had a pedal like you describe.

All is fine as long as the following happens:

1.With the engine off pump the brakes to they are hard, they then should stay hard and not drop
2.With the engine running the brake pedal will drop to the floor after being pumped, this is normal

and that's exactly what happens. I think I might of been looking at it wrong or maybe never noticed it as much.

If the ignition is on the ABS system sees the wheels not moving and reduces the pressure in the system and the pedal will drop to the floor the real test as Lee says is ignition off the pedal should be solid as the ABS system is inactive.
