Spongy clutch

Hey guys, im going back to bristol next week to take a look at a car i saw previously, it still hasnt sold and i couldnt buy it at the time due to finance issues. I spoke to the dealer and he said hes willing to do a deal as it hasnt sold.
One thing i noticed last time was the clutch pedal felt slightly spongy when pressed, is this common when the clutch is going or symptoms of something else?

A basic check would be to look at brake fluid colour an check for previous brake fluid changes.

you could try clamping the hose. But of just spongie best to get it bled an go from their

Pull the handbrake on nice and tight, pop into first gear and try lifting off the clutch slowly, the car should stall. If it doesnt, then there is something on the way out.

Basic I suppose but effective. How do I bleed the brakes. Is it a good idea on a car I haven't bought yet lol??

No not yet. I'm hoping I can get a decent deal with some cash left over to give it some loving lol. It's done 55k but no mention of a Cambelt change/ swirl flaps etc. Dont want to get it and have to spend a few hundred when I'm giving away a car which mechanically is sound now.

Buy a warranty, the AA 5* (for example) covers inlet manifolds, DMF's etc...
