    Default Signum 2.0l dti Problem! (Clutch?, Linkage?, WTF?) [Help!]

    Hi All,
    Parents went out on Sunday drive, which turned into a bit of a nightmare.
    They have a Signum 2.0 DTi Elegance on a 54 plate, they were on the way home when the car became laboured, but the engine ran and sounded fine but the gears became hard to select and the power simply was'nt being transferred to the wheels?
    There were no warning lights, no limp mode activation, no weird noises, no smoke and no smell. The car became so slow he had to pull into a lay-by and call the AA.
    When the AA got there they also could not find anything expect that the car would now not engage any gear.
    I got to their house today to check it out and this is also what I found; The car turns over just fine, the neutral idle is fine, but when you try to engage a gear it is very difficult, when you eventually move the stick to a gear and let out the clutch nothing happens... there is not even any indicators that you have selected a gear as you leave out the clutch (such as; noises or vibrations or attempts at movement)
    Hope you guys have some knowledge to drop, it would be much appreciared!

    Sounds like it needs a new clutch

    Had an identical fault on a fiesta I had a few years back. Needed clutch and flywheel.

    pop the linkages off at the g/box end and just check they move freely when some one moves the gear stick if not plenty of WD40,then if not it sounds like tony said gearbox out to investigate slave cylinder and clutch, hth

    big Tee, Pardon my lack of knowledge but what could have ceased at the g/box end of the linkage?

    sorry for delay mate i work 12hr nights... sometimes the cables seize up this is a really common fault on corsa s its a 2 minute job to check its a ball and socket connection at g/box end..if you move the levers on top of the g/box you can put the car in gear with the cables not connected its worth a try before a box out job..but to be honest i think you may have a goosed slave cylinder or clutch
