Just got 4 new tyres on my Vectra SRi. Went for 4 Evergreen's from a local tyre place. Got them for £350 all in. Read some reviews on them before I went for them and they seem quite a good budget tyre.

any links mate for the tyres ,
what are they like in the wet
mines got budget tyres and they scare me , coming of asap , certainly before the first icy morning !
Change to 225 45 17 and you will get much better than everyditch for that price.
Budget tyres are safe, it's the way you drive that isn't. Have done 60k on various budgets, rain, ice, snow no problem. Adjust your driving to the road conditions. And having good tread depth helps! Buying 4 for £220 this week.
I didn't want to, I wanted to stay with the original size.
Here's a review of the EverGreen EU72 which are the ones I got:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Evergreen/EU72.htm
I've driven about 20 miles with them and the car feels much better. Certainly quieter and smoother.
Its just absolutely lashed it down here as well and the roads are very wet with lots of standing water and there were no problems with aquaplaning.
The guy who I was chatting to at the garage reckons that they're becoming very popular and he predicts that this time in a year or so they'll be one of the main brands.
This is a PDF which compares them against other brands, such as Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear etc.

Driving to conditions I fully agree with but at 30 mph in the wet when the kid runs out after his ball infront of you my pirelli zero Rosso will be much better than an evergreen with equal tread depth. My Tyres are always replaced at 3mm aswell to keep the best traction I can on the road as I carry my partner and kids in the car and I don't drive fast but can tell the difference between budget and premium brand Tyres. Next time you buy Tyres look at the new rating stickers on the tyre to see how good they all compare in wet traction, wear rate and noise level as they are now being published in a new easier to understand way on Tyres. I look at Tyres lots everyday in the mercedes dealers where I'm a mechanic and see all brands of Tyres on lots of cars and see lots of budget Tyres failing in ways that a premium brand tyre wouldn't, Ie huge side wall cracks to cords and splits all over the Tyres and very uneven wear in lots of cases as they just are not as well built. The saying you get what you pay for is usually true in most tyre cases. I am at an advantage that I can buy my Tyres at cost through work so can use Tyres at the top of the spectrum for the price of a good mid range tyre.
Just my feelings guys and respect you for not driving around on Tyres that are illegal which I also see lots of times a day because people just cant use a tread depth guage or a finger to find the wear indicator. Sorry if I've upset anyone it's just I have a strong opinion on not using budget Tyres
If you look at the comparison chart pdf above it shows the specs there and they're pretty good for a budget tyre.
