vectra dti fuel

hi my vectra dti 2.0 on 53 plate uses to much diesel , i put£10 of diesel in and it only got 44 miles to the tenner on a run , also temp gauge sits at 80 while driving and in traffic will go down a bit , do i have to change whole stat housing or can i change just thermostat any help thanks

based on 141.9 for diesel that comes back as 28 mpg , seriously bad .
shouldn't think the temperature being at 80 would be a problem .

when was it last serviced ? has it ever had the inlet / egr cleaned ?

hi yes iv had car over a year and cleand inlet and put new egr on not long after i got it , woulg changing cts sensor be any help thanks

They are only a few quid m8,so maybe a good place to start?
i changed mine not long ago but not because of excessive fuel consumption.

would faulty cts sensor cause bad fuel consumption and is there a way to test sensor thanks

yes it could , best way is to get the car on diagnostics & check for fault codes , then go into live data & see what temperature the ECU thinks the engine is at .

hi thanks dti elite , i have been for run and got upto temp of 80 dgrees put op-com on and it read the same as temp gauge , there was no fault codes present , would this still mean cts is still faulty

try checking it from cold & see if the reading is roughly the same as the outside temperature ( give or take a few degrees either way )
