Ok new thread.. just a quick reminder, had new alternator fitted July this year after losing everything & battery light came on, fitted all good..
In August (6 weeks later) battery light came on again, put on replacement alternator... all good!
Ironically 6 weeks later AGAIn.. ****** battery light... bear in mind it comes on and stays on, when I turn engine off and on there is no battery light, we did a 25 mile run after (no light).. few more days running about then light came on again & syated on, turned engine off and on (no light) did another 20 miles and no light.. this morning i decided to do some readings
no engine on :12.3v
started car this morning, readings were as follows:
Engine running: 14.34
" but with everything on: 14.23
turn everything off again: 14.30
drove down to school battery light came on, as I kept reader with me I checked it whilst the light was still on & engine still running it showed :14.34!!
took my 2 youngests into school and drove home (no light) pulled on drive and took readings again (still no light) -
engine running only: 14.34
with everything on: 14.19
turn everything off except engine: 14.26, 14.27, 14.28 (then I turned engine off)
now with my head in the engine (not literally!!) i looked at belt going round and it seems fine, (its tight when engine is off) I could 'faintly' hear squeeking/chirps, but cannot hear that at all in the car...
what u think now?? its doing my head in!
I have 1.9cdti (120) estate 54 plate.. the 2 alternators recently fitted are both from Euro Car Parts and I 'think' it was the 110amp (i could be wrong)
