Default Rubbing noise from rear wheel

I was hoping someone might have an idea what this could be. I'm driving a 2008 model with 25k on the clock (never had pads or discs changed). I've had it since 4k and I'm very light on the brakes, usually slow down using the engine or gears.

I've got this noise coming from the rear wheel which sounds like 'whoosh whoosh' when travelling slowly even when not braking. The slower I go, say 2mph, the time between the noises gets bigger, making me believe something is stuck on the pad or the disc. But, surely it wouldn't do it when not braking?

I've got an MOT on monday, so hoping its ok until then or would you advise getting it in ASAP?

I've used a torch mirror on a stick to give it a visual inspection but not raised the wheel from the ground yet.
Tyres are Kumhos. Been on the car for around 6 months.

Thanks all but it sounds like something is rubbing as you can hear it as the wheel turns. ie. it seems to get to a point on the wheel and make the sound then as the wheel turns and reaches the same point, it makes the sound again, like its a specific point on the disc or wheel that rubs rather than a constant sound. I dont think I'm explaining it very well.

The noise appears to be getting worse. Pretty much constant when moving. I made it worse by stamping on the brakes (in a safe place). When I moved off, it was much worse. Got home, jacked up the wheel, and it doesn't rotate freely (seems to rub on the pad which seems to be touching the disc). I then took the wheel off and couldn't see anything obvious. However, I then jacked up the other side to check if it felt better and that also seems to rub the pad when spinning the wheel. So, I'm stuck on this and going to have to take it to the garage for it to be looked at.

ian highlander quoted the little guard behind the disc that sits up against it behind the lower ball joint. You can see if if you look round the back of the wheel, just tweak it out a few mm with a screw driver and the squeal will go. Very common on the Vecs.

    it may be that
